Overview

Andrea J. Ortega is an Associate in Lozano Smith's Walnut Creek office. Ms. Ortega's practice primarily focuses on student and Title IX issues. She also advises clients in regards to the California Public Records Act. Ms. Ortega is fluent in Spanish.

Experience

Specifically, Ms. Ortega has experience in a variety of student-related matters, including constitutional issues, discipline and investigations. She regularly assists clients with Title IX policy updates and related compliance. Ms. Ortega has worked with clients to respond to records requests and comply with the California Public Records Act.

Ms. Ortega also has experience in reviewing and providing guidance to clients relating to various types of vendor contracts, and she frequently drafts contracts for public agencies with contractors, design professionals, and construction managers. Ms. Ortega is experienced in reviewing and providing advice to public agencies relating to services, bidding, procurement, and construction contracts.

Education

Ms. Ortega earned a law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Southern California. During law school, Ms. Ortega was a co-founder of the Health Law Student Association and Co-Chair of the La Raza Law Student Association.
