Lozano Smith Promotes Three Attorneys to Senior Counsel
Fresno, CA (July 1, 2012) - Lozano Smith is pleased to announce that effective July 1, 2012, Laurie A. Avedisian and Jenell Van Bindsbergen, attorneys in the Fresno office, and Claudia P. Weaver, attorney in the Monterey office, have been promoted to Senior Counsel.
Ms. Avedisian currently serves as Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Coalinga, Firebaugh and Parlier. She assists clients with a range of legal advice and services in all aspects of municipal law including real property acquisitions, bidding and construction, government liability and issues related to former redevelopment agencies, including successor agencies and oversight boards. Ms. Avedisian earned her J.D. degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2003.
Ms. Van Bindsbergen currently serves as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Sanger and Deputy City Attorney for the City of Clovis. She is experienced with matters relating to Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Pitchess motions, code enforcement, Police Officer Bill of Rights, Firefighter Bill of Rights, labor and employment law including sexual harassment, discrimination, layoffs, administrative and court trials for certificated, civil service and classified dismissals, and grievance issues. Ms. Van Bindsbergen has practiced law for more than 15 years and has 14 years of experience representing cities in the Fresno County area. Ms. Van Bindsbergen received her J.D. from the San Joaquin College of Law in 1996.
Ms. Weaver's practice focuses on general facilities and business matters and charter schools issues, including charter oversight, governance and facilities. Ms. Weaver's expertise also extends to Brown Act matters, board governance, and a wide range of special education matters. Ms. Weaver received her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco in 2004.
