Lozano Smith Attorneys Recognized with Super Lawyers and Rising Stars Selections

Fresno, Calif., (July 12, 2016) - Lozano Smith, LLP, a leading California education and public agency law firm, announced today that five attorneys from its statewide offices have been selected by Super Lawyers Magazine as 2016 California Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. Each year, less than five percent of the lawyers in the state receive the Super Lawyers designation, while less than two and a half percent of lawyers receive the Rising Star designation.

Michelle L. Cannon, a respected attorney practicing in Sacramento, works closely with school districts, county offices of education and community colleges in all areas of education law. She has been named by Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the top attorneys in California for a fourth consecutive year.Mark W. Waterman represents public entities in administrative and court proceedings at both the trial and appellate levels. His litigation practice encompasses employment law, special education law, business law, appellate law, and complex litigation.

Ashley N. Emerzian represents the firm's public agency clients, with a focus on general counsel, as well as labor and employment matters on behalf of school districts. Additionally, Ms. Emerzian serves the Central Valley through involvement in various non-profits, including as a member of the Board of Directors for the California Young Lawyers Association. Wiley R. Driskill has more than eight years of litigation experience focused in the areas of civil litigation, business litigation, public agency and entity law, the Ralph M. Brown Act, defending public entities, and defending employment discrimination and FEHA claims. Nicholas W. Smith specializes in the labor and employment and litigation aspects of public agency law, with experience in civil litigation with an emphasis in governmental defense. He has handled all aspects of civil litigation including client partnership, file management, and overall litigation strategy and trial practice.
